Welcome to the first installment of the Three Years of Tableau blog series . In February, an initial overview was shared highlighting Tableau use over the past three years at Ohio State, along with findings from a January 2022 survey. With this blog series, we’ll dig a little more and share some user testimonials.
Over the winter break, updates were made to Carmen Canvas , Mediasite and Zoom to make sure these tools were ready for a new semester at Ohio State. You may notice preferred last names across Carmen, the removal of Box integrations, a new look and feel for MyMediasite and an easy way to import your Zoom cloud recordings into Mediasite .
The Affordable Learning Exchange (ALX) has awarded grants to 21 instructors for 2022. This new cohort is planning to use those funds to support affordability and racial justice projects for courses at Columbus, Lima and Newark campuses. These projects cover a wide range of disciplines—from math to music, art and design to architecture, sociology to psychology. The hard work of these instructors over the next year will result in over $80,000 in direct savings to students!
On Dec. 20, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) will disable unapproved Microsoft Teams add-ins until they have been through a required legal and risk assessment. The list of apps being removed includes Calendar BOT, Evernote, Freehand, ProjectWise, and RememberThis. Note: The apps may still be accessible directly, just not from within MS Teams.
Ohio State experienced record growth in distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic, with 19,095 students exclusively enrolled in distance education in fall 2020, up from 2,790 students in fall 2019 and 2,335 in fall 2018.
If you are using Mediasite to store and share lecture recordings and other content, please be aware of an upcoming change to available features. At the end of autumn semester, Catalogs will be retired in favor of Channels.
We previously shared that beginning November 1, you would be prompted to update your Zoom app when joining a meeting if the app was more than 9 months old. Based on customer feedback and the upcoming holiday season, Zoom has decided to delay this change until 2022.
New federal regulations went into effect surrounding professional licensure disclosures in autumn 2020. Ohio State's state authorization team revisits the regulations one year later.
The first Tableau User Group (TUG) meeting for the 2021/2022 academic year will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from noon to 1 p.m. via zoom. Registration is required . Sarah Murphy, Liana Crisan-Vandeborne, and Tim Byrne will provide a developer's Tableau Refresh workshop, reviewing how to create basic and specialty charts and apply tools from the analytics pane.
