Science Olympiad Brings Ohio Students and Teachers to Ohio State
Science Olympiad is a national nonprofit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in the sciences, and providing recognition of outstanding achievement by both students and teachers. These goals are accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments.
These interscholastic competitions consist of a series of 23 individual and team events. Science Olympiad encompasses various science disciplines; including biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, and technology. Events are designed to test knowledge of facts, concepts, processes, skills and application. Although Science Olympiad is a competitive tournament, many events require teamwork and cooperation, with a strong emphasis on developing team spirit and having fun.
