The Canvas LMS provides a wide range of resources for instructors in the Commons, a library of shared content including full model courses and individual course assets. If you need help building a course in Carmen (Canvas), this is your one-stop-shop for ready-made templates for courses, pages, quizzes and more. Instructors at Ohio State can also access model courses in the Commons that are specially designed with Buckeyes in mind.
Why should you use a model course? These blank course templates already include placeholder items, design elements and a basic structure to help you quickly organize your course information. Using a model course lets you focus on your content and learning objectives rather than worrying about formatting and design.
To access the Commons and start building with the help of an Ohio State model course, simply log in at carmen.osu.edu and enter a Canvas course or the Canvas dashboard. In the menu bar on the lefthand side, you will see a link to Commons. Learn more about using model courses in the ODEE Resource Center.
