This project enhanced Spanish 104, which is the fourth and last course in the required GE sequence. The grant project specifically focused on the Individualized Instruction (II) option, which included synchronous and asynchronous communication, online testing, and online workbooks in an effort to retain students in the II program.

Highlights

  • Passing Rate: 97%
  • I.I. average: 91%; in-class average: 84%
  • Overall, students found the course more challenging and rigorous, which was appreciated in the end.
  • TAs and instructors now receive dedicated training on the technology and methodologies for teaching an I.I. model
  •  I.I. Carmen course shells now take 50% less time to populate due to new course development strategies.
