Completion of Ohio State's ABA-approved Juris Doctor (J.D.) program meets state educational requirements to apply for admission to every state's bar. However, an individual may be required to complete non-credit courses or exams on state law to be eligible for admission. Links to state bar admission requirements are below. 

Alabama

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for the JD exam in Alabama. Alaska

Arizona

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Arizona. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the Arizona Supreme Court

Arkansas

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Arkansas. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the Arkansas State Board of Law Examiners. 

California

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in California. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the State Bar of California.  

Colorado

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Colorado. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel. 

Connecticut

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Connecticut. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the Connecticut Bar Examining Committee. 

Delaware

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Delaware. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the Board of Bar Examiners of the Supreme Court of Delaware.  

District of Columbia

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in District of Columbia. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the District of Columbia Court of Appeals Committee on Admissions. 

Florida

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Florida. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the Florida Board of Bar Examiners.

Georgia

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Georgia. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the Supreme Court of Georgia Office of Bar Admissions.  

Hawaii

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Hawaii. Idaho

Illinois

Indiana

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Indiana. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the Indiana Office of Admissions & Continuing Education. 

Iowa

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Iowa. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may also need to be met prior to applying for admission through the Iowa Board of Law Examiners.

Kansas

Kentucky

Massachusetts

Michigan

Missouri

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in Missouri. Montana

Nebraska

New Jersey

New Mexico

Completion of Ohio State’s Master of Laws (LLM) program does not meet educational requirements to qualify for a JD exam in New Mexico. New York

To satisfy New York Court of Appeals Rule 520.18, individuals completing Ohio State's J.D. program must follow the Moritz Skills and Professional Values Plan to be eligible for admission to the New York bar via Pathway One.
