Mentor High School and Tower Heights Middle School were crowned the winners of the 2017 Ohio Science Olympiad state tournament on Saturday, April 1. The tournament was hosted by The Ohio State University’s Office of Distance Education and eLearning.
Each year, more than 4,500 middle and high school students from the state use their free time to tinker, build, explore, research, learn, observe and collaborate. Why? In preparation for Ohio Science Olympiad , the state’s premier competition for students to demonstrate their skills in STEM.
Science, technology, engineering and math (or STEM) related fields are some of the fastest-growing areas in the United States. In fact, the number of STEM jobs could grow 17 percent by 2024, compared to 12 percent for non-STEM jobs.*
