State Authorization Team Shares How Partnerships Impact Compliance

State authorization is complex and an integral part of higher education compliance, making it valuable for institutions to work together and learn from one another. To help mentor and inform other universities of compliance practices at The Ohio State University, the State Authorization Team in the Office of Distance Education and eLearning hosted an “Insights from Key Stakeholders” webinar with the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies (WCET).

WCET is the leader in the practice, policy, and advocacy of technology-enhanced learning in higher education. It is a national, member-driven, non-profit which brings together colleges and universities, higher education organizations and companies to collectively improve the quality and reach of e-learning programs.

Over the past few years, State Authorization Program Manager Leslie Weibush and Sr. Program Coordinator Lisa Siefker made strides to develop relationships with stakeholders across the university, from online program directors to members of the registrar’s office. When approached by WCET to share best practices around relationship building at a large, decentralized institution, the State Authorization Team organized some key speakers to highlight Ohio State’s collaborative state authorization efforts. During the WCET webinar on August 16, members of the team and key stakeholders weighed in on how their partnerships have positively impacted the university, emphasizing the developed strategy to maintain compliance.
